Brook Green Centre for Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We believe that our students have a right to learn in a supportive, caring and safe environment which includes the right to protection from all types of abuse; where staff are vigilant for signs of any student in distress and are confident about applying our safeguarding processes to avert and alleviate any such problems. All teaching and support staff must undertake the required pre employment checks which include the uptake of references, employment history checks, internet searches and a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Post 1: Full time Caretaker / Gardener
With oversight of Cleaning

Salary Grade C pt 5-7 - £23,500 - 24,294 with a pay award pending
We are looking to appoint a motivated, reliable and enthusiastic Caretaker/Cleaner/Gardener to assist the Premises Manager with the smooth and efficient running of the school. The successful applicant will add tremendous value by helping to make sure that our school is a safe place to work and learn in, but also enjoyable and inspirational. We are looking for someone who is a hands-on person, committed and practical. You must be able to work both independently and as part of a team and ready to commit wholeheartedly to making an indelible mark on the school.

The role includes: Being a key holder and willing to be called out should an emergency arise. Maintaining and ensuring a safe and clean learning and working environment across the school and grounds. Carry out responsive and planned maintenance works. Play a key role in ensuring that all services and utilities are functional. Assist in ensuring that all Health and Safety regulations are complied with. Moving furniture and equipment as required. Assist in ensuring the adequate security of buildings at all times. You will need to be organised, able to manage your time and prioritise the workload, with good communication skills and the ability to work on maintenance tasks such as painting, plumbing, basic building work and gardening. This role is physical and you may be required to work outside in all weathers throughout the year. Willingness to drive school minibus is desirable.
